Manga review Thursdays! (I'll Give It My All...Tomorrow.) Volumes 1 and 2.

O hai there, Internetz. Welcome to the first ever "Manga Review Thursdays blog.' Should it be "Thursdays?" or "Thursday?" Hmmmm, anyways, this weeks manga is fairly new in America (with only 2 volumes out), and it is I'LL GIVE IT MY ALL...TOMORROW by Shunju Aono. (caps are awesome)

DESCRIPTION: This Manga is rated T+, I dunno why because there's nothing wrong with it, it's quite clean. But let's get on with the review, the genre of this Manga I would say is, drama, and comedy. A dark comedy if you will.

VOLUME 1's PLOT: Okay, it follows the fail life of a 40 year old man named Shizuo Oguro, who lives with his elderly father and daughter, and no, he's not married. And one day, he realizes that he wants to become a mangaka (a manga illustrator) And basically the whole first volume of the manga is him trying to get published. And so, along the way he meets some people who will later become his friends and that's basically it, in vol. 1 he really doesn't try to leave his Dad's house and be his own man.

VOLUME 2's PLOT: Now, the 2nd volume takes on a much darker and depressing nature, still funny at times, but mostly sad. There are two stories going on in this volume, 1 story follows Shizuo (of course) and the other story follows the life of Shizuo's friend, Suichi. Now Shizuo's story is the same, trying to get published, gaining respect from his father, and getting closer to his daughter. But Suichi's story is much differen't, his story battles his passed, the present, and his future. Making the whole volume a depressing mess. And of course there's more that goes on with Shizuo, troubles with his father, depressing flashbacks, and a certain love interest he has.

Now that's all that I can say about the 2 volumes without giving anything away, so let's rate it! I give this manga about 4 stars out of 5, the balance of drama, comedy and simple line drawings make it great. Oh yeah, you can get this manga at any book store (I got mine at Books A Million). And it'll cost you around $13.00. And for you Canadians, it'll cost you around $15.00.
And so, that's all I have to say. See you next week, BYE!!
