The Persecution of 'Jesus Christ Superstar.'

Hello everyone, tis your holiness, Tristan. Long time no see huh? Or should I say blog? Read? Hm, I'll have to think about that one.

So this entry is a serious entry, an entry on a topic that really gets to me, now, do you know what that topic is? Well, it's the persecution of Jesus Christ...Superstar. Yes, the broadway musical and the very successful and memorable 1973 film. But let's stop waffling about the greatness of this film and get to the seriousness of the subject. For some reason people find this film sacrilegious, although most of those nay sayers have never seen the film but feel they should judge it just because of the name, Jesus Christ SUPERSTAR, for some reason the word "superstar" rings sacrilegious when in the same title as "Jesus Christ." "Jesus is more than just a superstar, he's God!" most of these nitwits will protest, but yet they call Jesus a human, yes Jesus was a human and he was God (100% human and 100% God) But in human terms Superstar is the highest form of flattery. And in heavenly terms God is the highest form of flattery (at least in my opinion) Now aside from that there is 1 more "sacrilegious atrocity" And it's that it is a musical, somehow Jesus singing is sacrilegious?! Now, I could say that it's sacrilegious if Jesus had a top hat and a cane dancing around with tap shoes, or maybe some fishnet outfit out of 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show," but there's nothing like that! The music in it is, touching, heart felt, and totally not sacrilegious, sure King Herod's scene is a little provocative, but still, that's how King Herod was, a bi curious heckler.

So basically what I'm getting at is that people take Jesus too seriously, have a little fun with him (but not as far as 'Jesus Christ Vampire Slayer'), Jesus is your friend, and probably loves 'Jesus Christ Superstar.' And don't get the wrong idea from what I'm saying, I LOVE JESUS. I'M A BORN AGAIN CHRISTIAN. And respect Jesus, don't spit on a picture of him. So I really hope and pray that all you haters and judgmental bible thumpers will watch the film, and realize that there's heart and soul in this film, more than 'The Passion.' Believe me it does, so go out and watch it. BYE!!!!

I'm gonna change my way of thinking.

Oh hai there, Internetz, it's me, your all powerful dictator, with a more "serious" blog.
If you know me, or read this here blog you'll know that I am one of the most old fashioned, opinionated, controversy provoking people you will ever meet, I hate this generation, it's attitude, it's music, it's films, and all around culture. But I've come to discover, maybe I should change my way of thinking, be more free, stop belly aching about things that piss me off, embrace the culture, instead of damning it, maybe I should, I think I will. Not to be liked more, but to not have as much hate and strife in me. I'll still be against some things, disrespecting girls, elders, ect. I'll still be myself, but not as hateful, make sense? Yeah well, this is the start of a new loving, embracing, Tristan, the right Tristan.

Have a nice day, bye.

Is Nothing Sacred?

Shalom, Internetz, your honorable prime minister is back...ME!
So what's been going on with you lately? Oh yeah, that's right, I can't hear you.

Well, I just got done watching the 1961 classic 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' Starring Audrey Hepburn and some other guy. And there's something I noticed, they don't make films like that anymore, here is a clean, funny, wholesome movie for adults, it doesn't have to have wild sex scenes, dirty humor, and all that stuff that's called "adult" now-a-days, it was fine back then. And it should be fine now, and also what I was thinking is if the movies now-a-days will be considered classics 40+ years from now? "Hey kids, gather 'round the TV set, the Hangover's on." They. just. don't. make. good. films. anymore. Nothing that will leave a lasting impression on people 50 years from now, it's a shame. And as I sit here right now, I worry, I worry about the future of the movie industry. haha.
That's all you guys, I'll see you later.

My troubles with 'Hetalia: Axis Power.'

Well, hello there internetz. It's me again, your master...Tristan. Back with another blog about something Japanese!! (Yeah, I know, two in a row)
So this one is about 'Hetalia' The webcomic that could. It was created by Hidekaz Himaruya in 2007 I believe. And since then has been a huge hit in Japan and America, but of course, it's bigger in Japan, but of course it's not a measly webcomic anymore, but a Manga published by Tokyo Pop and a successful Anime produced by FUNimation (in the states).

Now, I could tell you about the plot and stuff and take an hour and a half, but I don't want to do that, so, here is 'Heatlia: Axis Power' in a nutshelll. GO! It's about countries being personified as humans and their slightly homosexual adventures, it's a comedy I think, and that's it. But let's get to the problem I have with it and why I don't want to read the Manga nor watch the Anime. See, it all has to do with the fandom of it, the fans are super annoying, fan fiction, Yaoi, etc. And to me, any form of anime or manga shouldn't be taken on like that, it's not supposed to be that way, it's supposed to be watched, read, and loved. Not butchered by the ever gross Yaoi craze. I'm sorry but I don't want to see poorly drawn male anime characters kissing and stuff, I mean, I have nothing at all against gay people, I love them. But people tend to take things to far. Now, I have friends who LOVE 'Hetalia' and who don't rape it like most do. So is this a stupid reason not to like 'Hetalia' despite never reading it or watching it? I mean, I could just ignore all the fangirls and fanboys and just enjoy the series for what it is, so, I'm gonna watch some of it and get back to you guys about it, okay? Cool. See you tomorrow or whatever.

Manga review Thursdays! (I'll Give It My All...Tomorrow.) Volumes 1 and 2.

O hai there, Internetz. Welcome to the first ever "Manga Review Thursdays blog.' Should it be "Thursdays?" or "Thursday?" Hmmmm, anyways, this weeks manga is fairly new in America (with only 2 volumes out), and it is I'LL GIVE IT MY ALL...TOMORROW by Shunju Aono. (caps are awesome)

DESCRIPTION: This Manga is rated T+, I dunno why because there's nothing wrong with it, it's quite clean. But let's get on with the review, the genre of this Manga I would say is, drama, and comedy. A dark comedy if you will.

VOLUME 1's PLOT: Okay, it follows the fail life of a 40 year old man named Shizuo Oguro, who lives with his elderly father and daughter, and no, he's not married. And one day, he realizes that he wants to become a mangaka (a manga illustrator) And basically the whole first volume of the manga is him trying to get published. And so, along the way he meets some people who will later become his friends and that's basically it, in vol. 1 he really doesn't try to leave his Dad's house and be his own man.

VOLUME 2's PLOT: Now, the 2nd volume takes on a much darker and depressing nature, still funny at times, but mostly sad. There are two stories going on in this volume, 1 story follows Shizuo (of course) and the other story follows the life of Shizuo's friend, Suichi. Now Shizuo's story is the same, trying to get published, gaining respect from his father, and getting closer to his daughter. But Suichi's story is much differen't, his story battles his passed, the present, and his future. Making the whole volume a depressing mess. And of course there's more that goes on with Shizuo, troubles with his father, depressing flashbacks, and a certain love interest he has.

Now that's all that I can say about the 2 volumes without giving anything away, so let's rate it! I give this manga about 4 stars out of 5, the balance of drama, comedy and simple line drawings make it great. Oh yeah, you can get this manga at any book store (I got mine at Books A Million). And it'll cost you around $13.00. And for you Canadians, it'll cost you around $15.00.
And so, that's all I have to say. See you next week, BYE!!
